Juana was born April 7, 1935 in Shafter, Texas. Her parents were Luis and Paula Gomez. She grew up in Valentine, Texas. In high school she played center for her basketball team. She was salutatorian upon graduating from high school in 1955.
After graduation she moved to Los Angeles California. She met and married the man of her dreams Jesus H. Urena. To this love, they were blessed with 4 children.
She was the executive secretary to the president of the company Chromodern. She retired in 1981 to enjoy her first grandchild she lovingly named Princess.
Her joy in life was watching her grandchildren Jessica, Tiffany and Sean play baseball. Although not sure how many games she actually saw seeing as how she and their father would get kicked out of the games. She was so proud of their accomplishments.
Juana had many interests. She loved decorating her home for the holidays Christmas, New Years, Valentines, Easter, 4th of July, and Thanksgiving. She found making quilts relaxing and embroidering added a special touch to plain white pillowcases. Her upside-down pineapple cake was to die for.
Juana was the oldest of 7 children, she loved her siblings. She leaves behind her 3 brothers Joe Gomez, Cresencio Gomez, Leo Gomez and 1 sister Lupe Ponce. She is predeceased by 3 brother Mayo Gomez, Alfredo Gomez, Richard Gomez and 1 sister Linda Morales.
Left behind to celebrate her life with fond memories is her oldest son Jesse, her nuera she adored, Abbie her daughter, and husband she affectionately called Honey. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
A visitation for Juana will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Chino, 13002 South Central Ave, Chino, CA 91710.
