A wisp of a woman, slight and petite Elegantly groomed, always tidy and neat.
Ardith Lee Lombard born one special April day In a small Midwest town, with golden grain and passing railway. Bellwood, Nebraska, this place was always at her core For here she shared a childhood with her dear brothers four. Cal, Max, Jim and Dan played boyish games, happy as could be But they never let Ardith play, she was just a girl you see. So, she spent all her time in the library with books new and old And came to read every book there or so I am told.
Leaving Nebraska, Ardith’s family headed west one day They came to Roseville, California and found a place to stay. McClellan Air Force Base became the workplace for her Here she put in many an hour with a response of, “Yes, Sir!”
Lunches and dinners here and there A good friend or two and not a care
But all things changed for Ardith, or so it seems When she was introduced to the man of her dreams. It wasn’t long before she married Dairyman Stan
And honeymooned in Europe as only romantics can. This became just the first of many trips so grand Around the US, Canada, Hawaii, Australia, and even New Zealand. Ardith became the family historian right away And time researching the past filled many a day. She found ancestors that were hidden and many lost kin Thanks to her, the family tree budded and bloomed again. Both Stan and Ardie loved golf and they had such fun Each of them were able to boast of a hole in one. An inherited love of quilting came from her Mother so dear
Designs of patchwork flowers you could see so very clear As her silver needle worked so flawless and sure Leaving behind exquisite stitchery of delicate allure
She could spend hours working with her needles and thread Quietly stitching and reflecting with a gently bowed head. Ardith was a God fearing woman with a generous heart, Intellect above many, yes, just plain smart. She loved her family, with a gracious heart content Calm and at ease, this wonderful woman was truly heaven sent. For sure, Ardith was a lady loved by us all Quietly poised, strong yet small A wisp of a woman, slight and petite Elegantly groomed, always tidy and neat. We love you Aunt Ardie, now and ever
We treasure your life’s model and will forget you never.
