William "Bill" Leroy Higgins

Mr. William “Bill” Leroy Higgins, age 76 of Kannapolis, left for his heavenly home on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Atrium Health-Cabarrus after a brief illness. Born June 9, 1944 in Shreveport, LA, Bill was the son of the late James Harley Higgins and Lillie Mae Higgins. Three of his four siblings also preceded him in death. Bill was a member of New Haven Baptist Church and spent his career working in retail management.

Bill had many gifts – he was kind, compassionate and had a tender heart who would find the good in every person and every situation. His wife, Janice was the love of his life along with his family, but he dearly treasured the time he spent with her and loved their life together. Bill loved to play golf and prior to becoming ill, could be found at the YMCA exercising each day. He loved his family dearly.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 33 years, Janice Johnson Higgins of the home. He also leaves behind their children, Michael Higgins (Cindy), Kenneth Hollman (Lisa), Jeffery Hollman (Leigh), Sonia Deranger, Kathy Nance (Jeff), Donna Miller and Kim Barron. Also surviving him are fourteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and his sister, Betty Smith.

Due to COVID and for the safety of others, there will be no service for Bill at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested you kindly remember Bill with memorials in his honor to New Haven Baptist Church, 3840 Hwy 152 E, Salisbury, NC 28146.
