Born on May 24, 1944 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Lewis Kyle Correll and Bonnie Oleda Glover Correll.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Shirley Ann Bentley Correll, who passed away June 14, 2022.
Walter worked as a supervisor for Cannon Mills and retired from Cone Mills. He also worked as a self-employed contractor.
He loved gardening, antiquing, hunting and bee keeping, but his greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren.
Walter was a member of Kannapolis Church of God. He was a past deacon, taught Sunday school and will be remembered for his Christian faith.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son and daughter-in-law, Eric Lynn Correll (Anne); grandchildren, Margaret Peyssonneaux (Florian) and Matthew Correll.
He is further survived by his sister, Kylette Correll and three brothers, Ronald Correll, David Correll (Sue) and Benny Correll.
The family will receive friends Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Friday, April 14, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Kannapolis Church of God with Rev. Dr. Greg Sloop officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
