Mrs. Virginia “Gennie” Ruth Deal Garver, age 89 of China Grove, gained her heavenly wings on a bright and sunny Sunday morning, September 19, 2021 at Liberty Commons in Salisbury. Born March 20, 1932 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late York M. Deal and Della Castor Deal. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Hoyle S. Garver in 2014 and her son, Keith M. Garver in 2005. Gennie was a 1950 graduate of China Grove High School and loved her classmates dearly.
Gennie was a longtime member of Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church where she served over the years in many capacities. She sang in the choir for 71 years, she played the piano for her Sunday school class, served on the church council, member of the Happy Age Seniors Group and an active member of the WELCA.
Gennie spent her early years raising her family and then worked for many years for Cannon Mills in production. In her spare time, she loved gardening and growing her own flowers, was an excellent cook and was known to prepare meals and made enough to feed an army. Gennie loved the Lord and lived a life of service and lived to serve others. She was the epitome of what a great mother should be.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sharon G. Hodges (Slade) and her son, Steven Garver (Jan). She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Stephanie Burleson (Andy), Eric Cline (Kristy), April Kircher (Jason), Angela Garver and Samantha Garver along with her three great-grandchildren, Caden, Keyan and Kalum.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Liberty Commons for the exceptional care Gennie received while there.
