Born in Rowan County on December 19, 1931, he was the son of the late John Parker Turner and Gladys Furr Turner.
In addition to his parents, his sisters, Barbara Griffin and Jo Ann Kerr also preceded Thomas in death.
Thomas graduated Mt. Ulla High School and served in the United States Army. He was a lifelong member of Thyatira Presbyterian Church and the Friendship Sunday school class.
He was known for operating his farm and Tom’s Country Store on 150. Thomas loved to garden, and served as an assistant Scout Master. He also was a charter member of the Millbridge Ruritan Club.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 35 years, Juanita Fink Turner; children Anthony (Kimberly) Martinez, Gina (Ed) Rollins and Amy (Clint) Dancy; two grandchildren, Tyler Corriher and Andrew (Amanda) Corriher; two great-grandchildren, Tate and Anabell Corriher and niece, Millicent (Jimmy) Hoffner and nephew, Joe (Debbie) Kerr.
The family will speak to friends Monday, December 19, 2022 from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM in the church parlor of Thyatira Presbyterian Church with the service beginning at 1:00 PM in the church sanctuary with Rev. David Smith officiating.
Burial will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 10:00 AM in the church cemetery with military honors.
