Mrs. Sarah Ann London Stirewalt, 88 of China Grove, passed away on Monday January 20, 2014 at Kiser Hospice House. Born on May 11, 1925 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late John Cleatus and Ada Hattie Atwell London. A 1943 graduate of China Grove High School, she was a longtime member of Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Women of ELCA, the Happy Age Seniors and the Birthday Breakfast Club.
Mrs. Stirewalt enjoyed cooking and growing flowers and her grandchildren. She retired from Fieldcrest Cannon after 20 years of service in 1986. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her brothers, Doye, Carl, Paul and Johnny London, and sisters Bernice Hobbs, Ruth Corriher, Pauline Powers, Dorothy Beam, Edna Rummage and MaeNell Honeycutt. Those left to cherish her memory is her husband of 67 years, Paul B. Stirewalt, son Larry K, Stirewalt (Janet) of China Grove and daughter Kathy S. Webb (Jackie) of Salisbury. Also surviving her are her grandchildren, Daniel Webb (Danielle), Jacob and fiance' Sarah, Adam and Andrew Stirewalt. Also she had great grandchildren Zander, McKinnon and Baby Boy Webb, who is expected in March.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6:00 til 8:00 at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove, with funeral on Thursday at 4:00 at Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church, with Rev. Joseph Talent, minister.
