Robert Lee Aldridge, Sr., 82, passed away on Wednesday April 5, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Rowan County on April 15, 1934 the son of the late Harvey Lee and the late Phronie Spry Aldridge. He was educated in the Rowan County schools. He served in the United States Air Force and worked in the #6 Weave room at Pillow-Tex for 34 years until his retirement. He was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran church and enjoyed going to the beach fishing and eating at Gary’s Barbecue.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary Catherine Aldridge on May 8, 2009. He was also preceded in death by a brother; Henry Aldridge and two sisters; Sarah Peeler and Lillie Van Zant.
Left to cherish his memory is two sons; Terry Lee Aldridge and Robert lee Aldridge, Jr. both of Salisbury and two daughters; Peggy A. Rummage and husband Tommy and Janice A. Hackler and husband Jack, both of Salisbury. Three grandchildren; April Harris, Nicholas Rummage, and Sydney Aldridge and one Great-grandchild; Madelyn Harris. Brother; Lewis Aldridge and wife Alene of Salisbury.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 1:30pm until 3:00pm at Grace Lutheran church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00pm in the sanctuary with the Rev. Jerome Cloninger, church pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
