Paul Brown Stirewalt

Mr. Paul Brown Stirewalt 92 of China Grove passed away on Saturday July 4, 2015 at Tucker Hospice House. Born on March 15, 1923 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Murrell and Ruby Blackwelder Stirewalt. Educated in the Rowan County schools, he was a veteran of the US Army, serving at the Battle of the Bulge in the 3rd Army, 2nd Calvary. He was a longtime member of Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and was an usher and grounds keeper. Also he was a member of the Lutheran Men, was a life member of the Seminary Auxillary, Happy Age Seniors and the Birthday Club. Mr. Stirewalt retired from Cannon Mills, working in #1 clothroom. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren and his hobbies were gardening and raising chickens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife of 67 1/2 years, Sarah London Stirewalt and brother Ernest Stirewalt. Those left to cherish his memory is his son, Larry K. Stirewalt (Janet) and daughter Kathy S. Webb (Jackie) of Salisbury and brother James C. Stirewalt of Salisbury. Also surviving him are his grandchildren; Daniel Webb (Danielle), Jacob Stirewalt (Sarah), Adam Stirewalt and Andrew Stirewalt. His great grandchildren are Zander, McKinnon and Riggins Webb and Baby Girl Stirewalt who is due in October.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 7:00 til 9:00 at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with funeral on Wednesday at 4:00 at Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church, with Rev. Joseph Tallent, minister. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. All other times the family will be at their respective homes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church, 750 Mt.
