Heaven gained an angel today. Patricia Doris Story Jones known to family and friends as “Mom, Mimi, Aunt Pat and Pat”. Patricia passed away peacefully September 14, 2022 at her home. Born November 27, 1942 in Muncie, Indiana to Nora L. (Reagan) Story and James D. Story. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ronald J. Jones, William Carson “Big John” Jaynes, Sursey Medill “Dick” Jaynes (brothers), Edna Jaynes Whiteman, Martha Easter Jaynes Cochran and Rose V. “Peggy” Barnett (sisters).
Patricia spent her younger years growing up in Dayton, Ohio. She graduated from Stivers High School. She enjoyed friends, music, dancing and roller skating. Word is she was quite the skater. She was a hard worker and worked many jobs to provide and make ends meet. Her home was always clean and organized.
When Patricia and her husband retired they moved to North Port, Florida, back to Dayton, Ohio and then North Carolina. She enjoyed those times making memories with her grandchildren, family, meeting new friends along the way and her door was always open. She loved to play bingo, cards and games. Her sense of humor was always present. She loved to tell jokes and pull pranks on others, no one ever knew if they would be her next target of fun.
She will be missed and there will be a void for those who love her. She is survived by daughters, Tammy Michael, Melissa Childress (Jason), Martha Wing and step-daughter Lori (Jones) Kromer (Douglas). Six grandchildren, Stephen Michael (Breana), Joey Childress (Melissa), Jonathan Childress, Spencer Wing (Daniella), Lisa Childress and step-granddaughter, Emily Kopacz (Thomas). Five great-grandchildren
Stevie, Kayden, Layton, Arabella, Aubrey and two step-great grandchildren. Willard (Bill) Barnett (brother-in-law) and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors, nurses especially (Ashley) and hospice care who so kindly cared for her and helped and supported her two daughters and two grandsons who patiently and lovingly cared for her.
Under the direction of Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove a private viewing will be held for immediate family. Burial at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.
