

Mrs. Margie Marie Safrit, 75 of Salisbury, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 8, 2012 at her residence. Born on March 7, 1937 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Cora Lyman Shue. Educated in Rowan County Schools, she was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, formerly a member of Dunns Mountain Baptist Church. Mrs. Safrit retired after 23 years of service from the VA Medical Center as a cook. Also Mrs. Safrit was active at VFW Post 3006, where she served as past president. Margie was a special friend, and important member of the Ladies Auxillary. She was an avid bingo player. Margie helped as a volunteer at the VA Hospital and State Nursing Home. Margie was always someone that you could depend on at the auxillary. She will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Michael Lee Safrit on November 12, 1960. Those left to cherish her memories is her husband of 59 years, Kenneth Lee Safrit, children; Patty Sue Scott (David) of Sumter SC, Brenda Faye Morris (Jimmy David) of Dalzell SC, Kenneth Eugene Safrit (Susan) of Rockwell, Tim Safrit and companion Donna Songer of Dalzell SC and Cynthia Swaim (Anthony) of Salisbury. Mrs. Safrit was also survived by 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Monday from 6:00 til 8:00 at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with funeral on Tuesday at 11:00 am at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, with Rev. William Ketchie, minister. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
