Mr. Kenneth Lee Safrit, 82 of Salisbury was re-united with his wife of 59 years, Margie on Sunday, June 10, 2012. Born on November 12, 1929 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Harry Lee and May Belle Weaver Safrit. Educated in the Rowan County Schools, he was a veteran of the US Navy from 1948-1950 and US Army from 1952-1954. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3006 and the Spencer Moose Lodge. Mr. Safrit was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church and formerly of Dunns Mountain Baptist Church. He enjoyed golfing and fishing. Earlier in life, he was a brick mason, and later in life he was a cook for Beatties' Open Kitchen and was a cook for the VA Medical Center.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Margie Safrit on June 8, 2012, a son Michael Lee Safrit on November 12, 1960, brothers, Glenn, Neil and Robert Safrit and sisters Frances Heilig and Peggy Agner. Survivors include children, Patty Sue Scott (David) of Sumter, SC, Brenda Faye Morris (Jimmy David) of Dalzell, SC, Kenneth Eugene Safrit (Susan) of Rockwell, Tim Safrit and companion Donna Songer of Dalzell SC and Cynthia Swaim (Anthony) of Salisbury, brothers, Tom (Irene) Safrit of Delaware, Steve (Helen), Jim (Nancy) and Eddie (Jean) Safrit, all of Salisbury. 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren also survive him.
Visitation will be on Monday from 6:00 til 8:00 at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove, with funeral on Tuesday at 11:00 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church with Rev. William Ketchie, Minister. The body will lie in state from 10 til 11 in the church.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Pauls Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, 205 St. Pauls Church Rd. Salisbury NC 28146.
