Kathryn "Kay" Mae (Jordan) Dobson

Mrs. Kathryn “Kay” Jordan Dobson, age 95 of China Grove, peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at her home under the care of hospice. Born January 4, 1926 in Rowan County, Kay was the daughter of the late Roy Edward Jordan and Ethel Phillips Jordan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Dobson. She was a longtime member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in China Grove.

Kay spent her career in healthcare working for 15 years as an LPN at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital (now Atrium Health-Cabarrus) retiring in 1985. In her spare time, Kay enjoyed crocheting hats and scarves for those in need and donated many to Rowan Helping Ministries. She had a great love for her family.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Susann Rinehardt, Caroline Dobson Marshall and Donna Deal (Nick). She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Brian Marshall (Martha), April Hanna (Tim), Teresa Ross (Steve), Don Newton, Jr. (Michelle); along with nine great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren and her longtime friend, Lewis “Red” Calloway.

Visitation for Kay will be on Friday, May 14, 2021 from 1:00 – 2:00pm at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 2:00pm in the Chapel officiated by Rev. Eddie Graham. Burial at West Lawn Memorial Park will immediately follow. The family would like to give specials thanks to all the caregivers who cared for Kay.
