Mr. John Samuel Fisher, Jr., age 72 of Salisbury, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 after a courageous battle with Covid-19. Born November 17, 1949 in Rowan County, John was the son of the late John Samuel Fisher, Sr. and Iris Gertrude Mauldin Fisher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepson, David Muncy. He was an active member of Rockwell Church of God – Freedom Christian Worship Center where he played in the Church’s Praise Band.
John was well-known throughout the community and was the former owner of Johnnie’s BBQ in Rockwell. He lived a life of service and had a servant’s heart. He was a very shy person until he got to know you and then his great sense of humor came out.
In his spare time, he loved going fishing and playing golf and really enjoyed going around to different Churches to sing and play music for the pleasure of others.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 19 years, Mary Ann Fisher; his son, John S. Fisher III of Rockwell, daughters, Amy Fisher Hecker (Ahren) of Davidson and Kaycie Fisher of Salisbury, along with his stepson, Roger Muncy (Diane) of Statesville. He also leaves behind his sister, Judy Wyrick and his half-brother, Ira Mauldin, his grandchildren, Max Hecker and Lainey Fisher, three step-grandchildren, Tyler Muncy, Jason Torrence and Lakelyn Kennedy along with three step-great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service for John will be on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at 6:00pm at Rockwell Church of God – Freedom Christian Worship Center, officiated by Pastor Dale Stahl.
