John Walter Bost

Mr. John Walter Bost, age 86 of Salisbury, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at NOVANT-Rowan Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health. Born September 19, 1934 in Rowan County, John was the son of the late W.R. Bost and Ethel Sides Bost. His eight siblings, Doris Marie Bost, James Lee Bost, Edith Olivia Bost, Ralph Lane Bost, Bobby Gene Bost, Jimmy Ray Bost, Betty Katherine Bost Gandy and William Maurice Bost, preceded him in death.

John was a 1952 graduate of Rockwell High School and went on to enroll in the apprentice school at Newport News, VA at the shipbuilding and dry dock company. John then proudly served his country, enlisting in the US Marine Corp where he served 3 years. After his service, he spent two years at Pfeiffer University. He then spent the better part of his career working with Holiday Inns in management. Prior to that position, he spent 7 years with NC Finishing Company. In 1987, John took early retirement to enjoy life. He loved watching football and going to NASCAR races.

Those left to cherish his memory are his nephews, Perry Troutman (Teresa) along with their children, Kyle Troutman and Brittany McLaughlin and nephew, James L. Bost, Jr. He also leaves behind his nieces, Suzanne Wood and Cathy Geiwitz and their families.

Visitation for John will be on Friday, January 29, 2021 from 1:30 – 2:30pm at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove. Graveside service will take place at 3:00pm at Gold Hill Wesleyan Cemetery officiated by Pastor Mark Loman.
