Jim was born on January 21, 1952 to the late George William “G.W.” Wright, Jr. and Elizabeth Upright Wright.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, G. W. Wright, III and one grandson, Hudson Broome.
Known for his humble and genuine spirit, Jim never met a stranger. For 34 years, he served as a carrier with the United States Postal Service, beginning in Landis and finishing his career in Salisbury. After retirement, Jim worked at the North Carolina State Veterans Home as a Valet attendant.
He was a member of Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church, where he often served as Chair of the Church Council, was Sunday School Superintendent and was involved in other activities. He loved cooking for the Men’s meals and helping with the Mother’s Day Banquets.
Those who knew Jim will remember his non-selfish demeanor, and always remaining positive even when life brought about struggles, especially as his health began to decline. He was patient, always having a smile and was a man greatly adored by all. He enjoyed gardening and was a great cook.
Jim’s greatest accomplishments in life were his family. In June 1973, he married his sweetheart, Rebecca Goodman Wright and together they shared 47 years at the time of his passing. Together they raised their children, Kevin James Wright, Jennifer Wright Henley (Justin) and Kristen Wright Broome (Adam).
In addition, he is survived by his wonderful grandchildren, Railyn Wright, Kinley Wright, Lainey Wright, Abigail “Abby” Henley, Sophie Henley and Garrison Broome; and one brother Doug Wright (AnnaLuree).
The family will visit with friends Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church.
A Celebration of Jim’s life will follow beginning at 2:00 PM with Rev. Tim Kneuss officiating. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.
