James Wertz Kimball, age 96 of China Grove, passed away on March 24, 2022 at Trinity Oaks, Salisbury, North Carolina. Born October 18, 1925 in Rowan County, he was the son of Wertz Crawford Kimball and Edith Goodman Kimball.
James graduated from Landis High School and Lenoir-Rhyne College with a degree in Business Administration. He worked for Zagora Gear Manufacturers in Charlotte, North Carolina as an accountant and treasurer of the company until his retirement. A veteran of World War II, James served in the US Navy aboard the USS Mack, a destroyer escort.
Until recent years, James was a life member of Lutheran Chapel Church where he formerly served on the Church Council and was chairman of the property committee.
Preceding James in death were his parents, a brother, Clay C. Kimball of China Grove, and two sisters, Helen Kimball Linn of Salisbury and Verlene Kimball Westbrook of West Palm Beach, Florida.
Survivors include a brother, Harold Frank Kimball, Port Deposit, MD and sisters, Euvalea Kimball Strickland, Carolina Beach, NC and Eleanor Kimball Black (Jerry), North Bethesda, MD and numerous nieces and nephews.
With Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home assisting, a private graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery, China Grove. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lutheran Chapel Church, P.O. Box 152, China Grove, NC 28023.
