Hugh Franklin Sechler

Mr. Hugh Franklin Sechler, age 95 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, May 30, 2024. He was born on September 13, 1928 in Rowan County and was the son of the late Calvin Burgess Sechler and Carrie Melissa Fleming Sechler. Mr. Sechler was educated in the China Grove Schools and was a lifelong active member of Mount Zion United Church of Christ. Professionally, he worked in the heating and air conditioning business, having worked from Canada to Florida for various heating and air conditioning companies. He also enjoyed gardening, woodworking and fixing things.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Myrtle, Ethel, Claire, Mary and Ruth and brothers Roy, Marvin, George, Duard, John and Floyd. Those with cherished memories include his wife of 74 years, Doris McKnight Sechler. Also surviving him are his daughter Brenda Sechler Raney (David), grandchildren Daniel Raney (Lindsay), Darren Raney and Bruce Raney (Cindy) as well as great grandchildren Brynna Raney and Maverick Moore.

Visitation will be on Sunday, June 2, 2024 from 2:00 till 3:00 at Mount Zion United Church of Christ with funeral service to follow at 3:00 pm also at the church with Pastor Jim Simons, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
