Mr. Herman Lee Cline, 77 of Kannapolis passed away on November 12, 2011 at CMC Northeast. Born on January 6, 1934 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Eddie Lee and Ruth Eagle Cline. He received his education in the Rowan County Schools, and Queens College. A longtime member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church, he was very active, serving on the church council, chairman of the Property Committee and the director of the Easter Pagent. He and his wife and two other couples and pastor were instrumental in the pagent, which began in 1963 and continues today. He was very active in the Boy Scouts Troop 300, where he was Scout Master for 32 years. He received the Silver Beaver Award, the Lamb Award and a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow. He also was involved with the Wood Badge training program, the Cornerstone Training, Outdoor Experience and Overnighter training. Mr. Cline received the Scouter's Award, the Scouter's Key (two times) and the Award of Merit of Rowan County.He also received the Charles Little Presidents Award. He received special recognitions from the Lone Scouts of America for helping build their buildings at Camp Barnhardt. He served his country in the Korean War in the US Army. His worklife was with Cannon Mills and as a construcion contractor with Herman's Construction Company. He retired from active employment in 2010, due to poor health.
Those left to cherish his memories, is his wife of 56 years, Rebecca Joanne Wilson Cline, a brother Elbert Cline of Kannapolis, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6:00 til 8:00 at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with service at 3:30 at on Thursday at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, with Rev. Bob Young, minister. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ebenezer Lutheran Church Scouting Fund, 4914 Old Beatty Ford Road, China Grove, NC 28023.
