Grover Cecil Schenk

Mr. Grover Cecil Schenk,91 of Salisbury, passed away on Wednesday August 10, 2016 at his residence. Born on May 3, 1925 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Raymond Ward and Mary Eleanor Graham Schenk. Mr. Schenk attended Rowan County Schools and was a longtime member of Salem Lutheran Church. He served his country in the US Army serving at the Battle of The Bulge. He was the recipient of 2 Purple Heart Medals. Professionally, he worked for Carolina TuffLite, then Carolina Forge and then retired from W.A. Brown Refrigeration. He enjoyed fishing at the coast and shooting pool. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife Martha Jane Goodman Schenk in 1986. Also preceding him are his brothers, Arnold, Wilbert, Gilbert, Elmer, Dan, Clyde and Don Schenk. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, daughter Brenda Schenk Bernhardt (J.C.)

Of Washington NC, Cecilia Ann Schenk Lingle(Cecil) and son Dale Schenk (Barbara) and brother Norman Schenk (Gloria), all of Salisbury, He was also survived by his grandchildren, Greg Bernhardt(Heather), Beth Buckley (Pat) and Kelli Beers (Mike). Also surviving him are his 6 great grandchildren

Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:30 til 11:00 at Salem Lutheran Church with funeral at 11:00 also at the church with Rev. Clarence Sifford, minister. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
