Mrs. Ford was born February 3, 1918 in Concord, N.C., daughter of the late James Walter Hagler and Laura Ella Plummer. She was a 1935 graduate of Winecoff High School.
She worked for 44 years for Cannon Mills in Kannapolis, N.C., folding sheets.
She was a devout Christian, an avid reader, a country music fan and a dear friend to many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Daniel Thomas Ford, Sr. (2001); three brothers, Jesse, Homer and Rev. Grady Hagler; and a sister, Dorothy Ritchie.
Mrs. Ford was a 73 year member of Lutheran Chapel Church, China Grove, N.C., where she taught Sunday School and served in a visitation ministry with the late Mary Belle Daugherty.
She is survived by an only child, Rev. Daniel Thomas Ford, Jr. and his wife Elsie of Altadena, CA, two grandchildren John Walter Ford (wife Alex Yun) of Altadena, CA and Anne Elizabeth Ford (husband Dr. David Figlio) of Evanston, IL, five great grandchildren, Aiden Ford, Sydney Ford, Joseph Figlio, Rebecca Figlio and Elizabeth Figlio, a sister Oralene Leigh (husband Bob) of Concord, N.C., a sister-in-law, Mrs. Willie Mae Blackwelder of The Lutheran Home in Salisbury, N.C. and a number of nieces and nephews.
Service: The Celebration of The Resurrection with Holy Communion will be held on April 1 at 4 p.m. at Lutheran Chapel Church in China Grove, N.C., conducted by The Rev. William Connelly, Pastor, with The Rev. Constance P. Garrett as Preacher. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Concord, N.C.
Visitation: The family will receive friends on March 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove, N.C.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lutheran Chapel Church, China Grove, N.C. or to The World Hunger Appeal of The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
