Salisbury-Dorothy Ruth Cauble Sloop, 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Rowan Regional Medical Center. Born December 7, 1927, in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late John Calvin Cauble and Maggie Earnhardt Cauble. Educated in the Rowan County schools, she retired from Cannon Mills Swink Plant.
She married the love of her life, Eustace Lee Sloop, on December 23, 1948. They would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this year. A long time faithful and devoted member of Grace Lutheran Church, Mrs. Sloop was an active member of the Adult Senior Sunday School Class, the Amazing Grace Senior Citizens and the Barbara Deal WELCA.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sloop was preceded in death by her son, Rev. Jerry Lee Sloop, her brother, Ray C. Cauble, and her sisters, Beulah C. Rufty, Esther C. Seaford, Margie C. Abernathy, Pearl C. Reavis, Mildred C. Rufty, Myrtle C. Ketchie and Hazel C. Hill.
Family members left to cherish her memory, include her husband, Eustace, her sons, Timothy W. Sloop, of the home and Rev. Ricky L. Sloop and wife Sharon, of Crouse, NC., her daughter, Debbie Parris and husband, Earl, of Salisbury, her daughter-in-law, Maribeth S. Baker and husband, Charlie, of Salisbury, her sister, Aliene C. McCombs, of Faith, her four grandchildren, Donnie L. Sloop and wife, Donna, Daniel H. Sloop and wife, Angie, Jeremy L. Parris and fiancee, Molly Stafford, and Matthew S. Parris, four great-grandchildren, Daniel H. Sloop, II, Nicholas A. Sloop, Samantha N. Sloop and Lauren W. Wilkinson and husband, Daniel, two great-great-grandchildren, Hailee M. Reynolds and Madison K. Wilkinson.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 9, 2012, from 2:30-4:00 at Grace Lutheran Church, with the funeral service at 4:00, conducted by the Rev. Jerome M. Cloninger, pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
