Mrs Ross was born October 2nd 1935, to the late Martin Odell Walker Jr. and Jennie Armstrong Walker in Landis, NC. This is where she also met and married her late husband Durham Ross. They raised their 6 Children there. She was preceded in death by a son, Max Ross and daughter, Tina Ross and a brother George “Sonny” Walker (Rachel). She is survived by a step-daughter Cynthia Foster (Eugene) of Mooresville, a daughter Edith “Edie” Ross Draper (Jeff) of China Grove, a son Michael Ross of China Grove, a daughter Tiffany Ross Morrison (Andy) of Statesville NC, and a son in law David Kerley. She has 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, 1 niece, 1 nephew, and 1 beloved dog Sissy.
Mrs. Ross was educated in Landis NC, as well as Lenoir Rhyne College in Lenoir NC where she obtained her A. B. degree in Primary Education. She later obtained her Masters Degree in Education from UNCC in Charlotte NC.
Mrs. Ross was an educator in Rowan County for over 50 years. She loved teaching and in her own words it was “a tremendous responsibility, but extreme joy to know that I play a very small part in the lives of these little ones.” As well as teaching, she was a bus driver, YMCA camp counselor/ bus driver, the best baker at the Western Steer in Salisbury. She finally “hung her many hats” and retired at age 75.
Mrs. Ross Was an avid gardener, she had 2 green thumbs! She loved to read and had a passion for music and dancing. From playing the piano to country line dancing. It was rare to see Mrs. Ross without her children or grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
She will be deeply missed and cherished by her family and all that loved and knew her.
