Doris Winters Thomas, age 101, formerly of Charlotte, NC peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Trinity Oaks in Salisbury after a period of declining health. Born December 28, 1919 in Elkhart County, Indiana, Doris was the daughter of the late Emil George Winters and Edessa Alice Sevison. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Edgar Thomas and her sister, Aliene Winters Beaubien. She was of Catholic faith.
Doris lived a full life living in Charlotte for many of her years. She was a fashion consultant and was always "dressed to the nines." She loved fashion, clothes and especially helping others put their outfits together. She was also the local expert or known as the local "Emily Post" and could have written the book on how to dress, what to do and what to wear for each occasion. Doris also had a love for horses and her precious Dobermans. She was the co-founder of the Magnificent Seven Doberman Pincher Club in Charlotte and also served with the American Kennel Club. She stayed active for as long as her health permitted.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, James "Jim" Alexander Thomas II (Jeanine) and Lawrence "Larry" Marshall Thomas (Marcia) and her daughters, Karolynn Thomas Miller (Mitch) and Susan Joyce Thomas. She also leaves behind twelve grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
Inurnment for Doris will be on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 1:00pm at Evergreen Cemetery, 4426 Central Avenue, Charlotte, NC. A Memorial Service in her honor will be announced at a later date. Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove is honored to be serving the family of Mrs. Thomas.
