Born in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Horace Eugene Green and Muriel Compton Green.
Doris graduated from high school and achieved her Associate Degree from Mars Hill College. She worked many years as the Director of Events for the South Carolina Hospital Association, until retirement.
She was a member of Northeast Presbyterian Church in Columbia, SC until she moved to Salisbury, NC in 2017.
At Trinity Oaks, Doris was known for being well-dressed, at all times, in the latest fashion. She was an avid Bridge player and pianist. She enjoyed spending time and playing for her friends at Trinity Oaks as well as her family.
In addition to her parents, Doris was also preceded in death by her husband, James Carroll Clevenger, in 2008; one son, Jason Clevenger and one grandson, John Thomas Drye.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Dr. Jeffrey Clevenger and Lesleigh Drye (John); her grandchildren, Scarlett Clevenger, Jeremy Clevenger, Dr. Carley Drye, Alexandra Drye Glontz (Alex), Adam Drye, and brother-in-law, Joe Clevenger of Pelzer, SC.
A graveside service will be held Friday, December 27, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Northeast Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Columbia, SC.
