Betty Johnson Helms

Mrs. Betty Johnson Helms, age 82 of Salisbury, passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021 at her home after a period of declining health. Born, December 23, 1938 in Harnett County, Betty was the daughter of the late Isaac and Lila Capps Johnson. In addition to her parents, both her husbands, Francis Ned Sills and Kenneth Wayne Helms and her daughter, Terri Collins, also preceded her in death.

Betty was fortunate in that she spent most of her career doing something that she truly loved – sewing. She was a very gifted seamstress, spending countless hours in her sewing room. She also had a passion for gardening. Betty loved going barefoot through creek beds and her special “quiet time”, always spending it with the Lord.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children and stepchildren, Eugene Keith West (Jennifer), Kimberly Dawn Barnhart (Eric), Wanda Cox (Eugene), Kenneth Helms (Rita) and Debbie Morris (Jamie). She also leaves behind her brother, Bobby Johnson (Lorraine) and sister, Carolyn Baker (Michael) along with 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Visitation for Betty will be on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 from 1:00 – 2:00pm at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with Funeral Service following at 2:00pm in the Chapel. Betty will be laid to rest with her husband, Kenneth at Salisbury National Cemetery on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at 2:00pm.
