Ron was a wonderful man taken too soon. He was always very patient, gentle, kind, funny, and smart. He was loved very much by his family and friends and everyone he met.
Ron was initially diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer in 2020. He underwent multiple surgeries and treatments which allowed us an additional four years with him. He spent those four years with his family and the people that he cherished most, making everlasting memories.
Ron is predeceased by this Mother, Nina, his Brother, Rick, and his Step Mother, Elizabeth.
Ron is survived by his loving Wife, Kathleen; his children and their spouses, Jason (Tracy), Charlene, Kristy (Kevin) and Nikki (Jamie); his grandchildren, Mac, Brandon, Weston, Greyson, Alex, Bella, and Aniston; his Father, Walter; his Sister, Teri, and her children Megan and Greg.
Ron was a hard-working man who worked as a Millwright at Tree Island Steel for many years. Ron retired from Tree Island in 2020 upon learning of his initial Cancer diagnosis. Prior to this, Ron worked as a Millwright at Canadian Pacific in Nanaimo and at the mill in Tahsis on Vancouver Island. In between jobs, he also drove a potato chip truck, taxi, did asphalt, had his own video store, and his own welding truck.
Ron enjoyed camping, boating, riding his sea doo, playing computer games, spending time with family and friends around a campfire, amongst many other things. There was nothing he enjoyed more than spending his time camping at the beautiful Sunnyside Campground at Cultus Lake. He enjoyed taking trips with his Wife, Kathy, to Mexico, Cuba, Hong Kong, and Hawaii.
We would like to thank everyone for the care, compassion and support that they showed him and the family during his long battle with cancer and in his final months and days. We know he is no longer in pain and will be resting peacefully.
We will be hosting a Celebration of Life on October 19th, 2024 at 1PM at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Avenue, Chilliwack, B.C. V2P 1B5. We extend this invitation to any who would like to come and pay their respects and celebrate a wonderful life.
