July 17, 1963 - January 26, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Robert “Robbie” McLatchy on January 26th while hiking with his wife Kim and friends, doing what he loved. Born on July 17,1963, he was the youngest child of Ed and Freda McLatchy.
Robert was more than a loving husband to Kimberly for 33 years - he was her partner in every sense of the word, always ensuring that joy and laughter were at the heart of their journey together. He was also a proud and dedicated father to their son, Evan, who he loved immensely.
Robert was predeceased by his parents and leaves behind his four siblings: Sandra(Robert) Wardell, Stanley(Sheena) Stenerson, Ken(Tracey) Stenerson, and Andy(Jillian) McLatchy, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
A dedicated firefighter with the Mission Fire Rescue Service for 23 years, Robbie took great pride in serving his community. He also worked at Richie Smith Feeds for 25 years, starting in the mill before managing the warehouse.
Robert had a creative spirit, with artistic talents that shone through his photography and his love for Volkswagen cars. His passion for the outdoors was evident in his love for kayaking and hiking, capturing breathtaking moments through his lens, many of which were featured in The Mission Record. He also had a deep love of music and was a talented musician, playing in a band that brought him great joy.
Beyond his talents and accomplishments, Robbie was known for his kindness, generosity, and incredible sense of humor. To know him was to have a lifelong friend-everyone he met quickly became a “mate”. His warmth and laughter will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at Silverdale Hall 8760 McLean St. on February 9th at 1:00pm.
