Bob was born in Chilliwack and grew up on the family dairy farm in Greendale. He shared in the running of a successful dairy with his dad and brother for many years. Bob married Carole in 1978 and they were lifelong partners in all things until the day he died. After leaving the farm, Bob and Carole moved their family to Ryder Lake, and enjoyed life on their hobby farm for many years. Bob’s love and knowledge of farming and agriculture led to a career in the dairy industry, working for WestGen for more than 30 years.
He was a committed and active member in the Chilliwack Alliance Church, where he faithfully served in many different roles over the years. It was evident to all who encountered Bob that his faith in Jesus was of first and foremost importance in his life.
Bob is predeceased by his parents, Keith and Ethel Massie. He is survived by his loving wife, Carole, of 41 years, mother-in-law Martha Schroeder, brother Ken (Sandi), sisters Carol (Randy) Greentree, Sandra (John) Verschuur, and Wendy (Perry) Mazurenko, his children Joseph (Heidi), Cheryl (Tyler) Schulz, Ginny (Steve) Klassen, and James (Julie), and his grandchildren Natalie, Jillian, Olivia, Lauren, Anna, Isaiah, Indiana, Sophia, Georgia, Levi, Quinn, Lucy, Lachlan, Eva & Stevie, as well as many other family members and friends.
His dedication to his faith and family leave behind an incredible legacy. He was known for his integrity, humility, gentleness, and steadfastness. Bob considered his greatest achievement in life to be his relationships with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who were privileged to meet him. It is his family’s honor to have known him, loved him and been loved by him.
A service will be held at the Chilliwack Alliance Church on Young Road on Monday, August 12, 2019 at 11:30 am.
