Richard Edward Samuel Oak was many things in life. He was a father, a husband, a grandfather, and a friend. Richard was a humanitarian. He donated to people and charities, and he would give the shirt off of his back to anyone. Richard was a kind, gentle soul. Like Buddha, he would carry the spider outside so it could build a new home. He said of religion, “they have caused more harm than good”. He was an Atheist, after all. But he treated people, animals, and all living things with kindness. He thought the closest thing to God was nature. Richard’s wife compared him to Robert Frost or Bernard Shaw. He never took credit for his gift of the written word, or his gift to fix any broken thing. Though he was hard of hearing, he was a great listener. Richard was a great human being and will be missed immensely.
