It is with great sadness that the family of Paul Eric Ferris, announce his passing on December 5, 2017 in Chilliwack BC. He is forever remembered by his wife of 49 years Lynne, his children Eric (Heidi), Jen (Michael), Mark (Ashley). Paul is lovingly remembered by his 7 grandchildren, Max, Ryan & Maddie, Raewyn & Aaro, Kesler & McCabe, his sisters Valerie Mignault (Gerald), Sandy Exley, brother-in-law Barry Palo (Carleen) and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nephews, Nieces and extended family and friends.
Paul was born in Russell Manitoba into a military family and lived throughout various parts of Canada and Germany. Paul joined the Canadian Armed Forces and enjoyed his time of enrollment, it was shortly after his military career ended that he met the love of his life Lynne in 1966 in Vancouver and they were married shortly after in 1968. They moved to Chilliwack in 1975 where they happily raised their 3 children and enjoyed all the beauty that Chilliwack had to offer. Paul chose the profession of welding and fabrication where he earned the highest regard in the industry. His career spanned his entire life beginning in the early years where he worked on several projects in Vancouver, later building and opening his very first welding shop on Yale Road West called Ferris Bee-Line Welding and eventually becoming a highly respected trade’s instructor at the University of The Fraser Valley.
Paul loved the outdoors and found the beauty in all things including his love for fishing, hiking, boating and the ocean. He was a talented man who could craft, create and invent virtually anything he set his mind to which included his amazing drift and fly reels, stain glassed, jewellery, custom woodworking and much more. Paul also was a self-taught musician and trumpet player and was passionate about music. He was a loving family man and this was his greatest accomplishment. He had a generous heart and was always happy to help friends, family and those in need. He was a compassionate soul who touched many and the world won’t be the same without him. Paul will be loving remembered by all who knew and loved him.
At Paul’s request there will be no service but he asked to just remember him with fondness and to live life to the fullest.
