Marquette (Peggy) Butchart passed peacefully November 3, 2023, one day after her 102nd birthday. She was born in Calgary to Katherine and Reginald Manning. After growing up in Calgary, Peggy moved to Vancouver, married Bob Butchart, and moved to Chilliwack, where they remained, raising three children.
Peggy worked at various jobs but was an office worker/bookkeeper by profession. She supported her Fire Chief husband and her children's various endeavors. She loved traveling by bus to California to visit her cousins, and also to Reno. Locally Bob and Peggy visited Minter Gardens many times. They ate many meals at Banners Restaurant. Peggy loved needlework her whole life.
Peggy was predeceased by 9 siblings, husband Bob, sons John and Lawrence, and Bob’s siblings. She is survived by daughter Gloria (Gary) Wagner, and their children Feather, Forrest, and Daniel and their families, Lawrence’s children Shiloh, Clayton, and Chandra and their families with 11 great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on November 23rd at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s, then Reception at 12:00 pm in St. Mary’s Hall with a display of 8 decades of Peggy’s wonderful needlework, followed by Graveside at 2:00pm at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
