It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marilynn Dunn, age 90 with family by her side on May 7, 2023 at her home in Cheam Village (Agassiz Seniors Center) after a brief illness. She was Born Oct 7, 1932 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver. Marilynn moved to Agassiz with her family in 1938. Marilynn graduated from Agassiz High School in 1950 and went on to work as a BC Tel Operator from 1950 - 1958 and answered the last calls before BC Tel automated the system in 1958. Mike and Marilynn met in Agassiz through mutual friends and were married on March 11, 1955, they lived their lives together in Agassiz raising their family.
She was a member of the Fireside UCW for many years, and served as the Secretary & Treasurer. Marilynn was also a member of the Agassiz Harrison Historical Society and a volunteer at the Museum. She was an avid golfer and was the Captain of the Agassiz-Harrison Ladies’ Golf Club for 14 years and was welcomed as a Lifetime member of the Golf Club in 2011. Marilynn enjoyed fishing and camping with her and Mike’s life long friends, their children and grandchildren.
Marilynn is predeceased by her husband Mike, brother Rick, nephew Michael, sister-in-law Lois, mother Ethel and stepfather Aime Sache.
Marilynn leaves behind her children Robert (Vickie), Steven (Wanda), Fred (Marina), Tracy (Jacob). Her beloved Grandchildren, Travis (Nicki), Kevin (Chelsea), Melissa, Emily, Sarah (Nic), Brandon (Tia), Tanya, Amanda (Kevin) and great grandchildren, Brooke, Liam, Hallie, Maverick, Brandon Jr, Aidan, Aubrey, Tiryn, Sienna, and Amara.
The family would like to thank the Nurses and Care Aides of Floor 2 at the Agassiz Senior Center for the love and care they showed our Mom over the last 6 years.
A service will be held at the Agassiz United Church on Sunday June 11, 2023 at 2 pm with refreshments to follow.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to the Agassiz-Harrison Museum.
