Katherine passed away peacefully Monday, May 7 ,2018, in her 88th year. Katherine was born at Turtle Mountain, Manitoba on July 6,1930 to parents Jacob and Helena Klassen. She was one of 12 children consisting of eight girls and four boys. In 1945 the family moved to BC where Katherine worked in the Sardis hop fields, Steveston fish cannery and the Coqualeetza Hospital.
Katherine was known by her friends as Kay Katherine and Tutish.
Katherine met the love of her life, Peter Wiebe in the late 1940's roller skating at the Greendale roller rink. They were married on November 2,l95l and began their married life on their dairy farm where Katherine worked alongside Peter milking cows and caring for all the farm animals.
One of Katherine's greatest joys was caring for her beautiful flower gardens. Katherine was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Our mom was a very loving, caring, compassionate, creative, hardworking and courageous person.
Katherine is survived by son BRUCE (Joyce) Wiebe, grandson Gregory Wlebe, granddaughter
Stephanie (Brad) Popoff and great grandchildren Zachary, Elianne, Emmelise and Matthew Popoff granddaughter Amanda (Nathan) Linkletter and great grandchildren Hannah and Chelsea Linkletter; son BRIAN Wiebe; daughter SANDRA (Mark) Fisher and grandchildren,
Raelene (Dmitriy) and Marlee Fisher; daughter LINDA (Bill) McKay and grandchildren Mike (Stephanie) McKay and great grandchildren Madison and Parker McKay; and Dr. Jeffery (Dr.Nikita) McKay; and daughter CYNTHIA (Tom) Rogers and grandchildren Caleb, Ben and
Jonathan Rogers, sister Margaret (Don) Pillon, brother Hank (Ellie) Klassen, and numerous nieces and nephews. Katherine was predeceased by her son LEONARD.
The family would like to express their great appreciation for the exceptional care and kindness shown to our mother, Katherine Wiebe, by the staff of Cheam Village Care Home. In lieu of
flowers, donations can be made to the Vancouver Burn Unit or the Heart and Stroke Foundation
in mernory of Katherine Wiebe.
A celebration of life with family and friends will be announced later this summer.
