It is with great sadness that we announce to passing of Jim Robinson at 79 years of age, surrounded by his family. A beloved father, brother, grandfather, and uncle, Jim will be missed and remembered by all who knew him. He is survived by his six children; Jason, Sean, Michael, James, Danielle, Catherine, and twelve grandchildren.
Jim was born in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba before moving to Pitt Meadows where he spent the majority of his youth growing up and exploring the beauty of the area. From there, Jim spent two years serving his country in the Royal Canadian Navy, travelling abroad, before coming back to British Columbia to settle down in the Lower Mainland working in Corrections and raising a family. Jim was often found spending summers on Alouette Lake exploring the outdoors and making memories.
Jim had exceptional love for family, friends, and sports. He cheered on the Vancouver Canucks over winter, Blue Jays and Whitecaps through summer, Seattle Seahawks in the fall, and golf everywhere between. Jim rarely missed a game and always relished the chats. Some of his most memorable times with friends and family were spent fishing or golfing with the guys, dancing with the ladies at the Aldergrove legion, and dinners out at his favorite spots.
Jim is predeceased by his wife Madelaine, daughter Michelle, and his brother Steve. The family wishes to thank all the doctors and nurses at Abbotsford Regional Hospital & Cancer Center and Chilliwack General Hospital for supporting him through his two-year fight against cancer.
A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
