Colleen Adele Twardy (nee Wright) passed gently into Heavens gardens, on October 31, 2023. Born on March 12, 1938 in Strasburg, SK to Arthur and Vera Wright, Colleen was the oldest of nine children, growing up in the community of Mannville, AB.
Colleen’s teen years were spent working a variety of jobs, including one of her favourites, working in the kitchen at the College in Vermillion. Through the years she shared many funny and amazing stories of her time there.
Colleen met Adolph Twardy in 1958, and they married in 1961 in Vegreville, AB. They welcomed three children, for whom she created a home full of love, hard working values and traditions they still enjoy. The family moved to Chilliwack, BC in 1972 where she resided until her passing.
Mom was a lifelong learner, saying the ‘school of life’ was her university. She enjoyed the challenge of a good crossword or sudoku puzzle, keeping her mind sharp. Mom was extremely crafty, enjoying cross stitch, of which she created many treasured gifts for family, as well as sewing, scrapbooking and cake decorating. Her biggest passions however were gardening and baseball. To get her hands dirty planting in her garden, or watching her Bluejays win a game, made her incredibly happy.
Colleen was predeceased by her parents , her husband, Adolph (Ade), brother Patrick and sister Rosemary. She is survived by her three children: Pam (Gerald) Klassen, of One Hundred Mile House, BC, Trent Twardy and Penny Twardy of Chilliwack, BC. Proud and much loved Granny to Troy Klassen and Riley Klassen. She was tickled to become a Great Granny to Beckam, her littlest Sweetpea. Also survived by six brothers, Dennis, Brian, Terry, Barry, Robin, Andy and their families, as well as sister-in-law Joyce Twardy.
Mom would love to be remembered with funny or silly stories that celebrate what was good and blessed in her life. Her family was Mom’s world and we will lay Mom to rest in the springtime, in Alberta.
Memorial and Internment will take place on May 4th at 11:00 am at Mannville Cemetery in Mannville Alberta. Range Rd 85, Mannville, AB T0B 2W0
In lieu of flowers donations to the Union Gospel Mission would be appreciated.
