Funeral services will be held Friday, February 2, 2024 at 2:00pm at Childersburg First Methodist Church with burial to follow at Greenhill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Curtis and Son in Childersburg.
He was proceeded in death by his devoted wife of 57 years, Patricia Limbaugh Kallenbach, “Chick”. He is survived by his three daughters, Kim Hayes (Robbie) of Chelsea, Kay McCain (Ronnie) of Childersburg, Kris Logan(Brad) of Childersburg; Seven grandchildren, PJ Ford (Austin) of Pelham, Peyton Logan (Marisa) of Leeds, Tiffany Hayes of Chelsea, Hunter McCain (Alexis) of Harpersville, Will Hayes of Chelsea, Kallen McCain (Taylor, fiancée) of Childersburg, and Ryan Logan (Anna, Fiancée) of Childersburg; two great-grandchildren, Cooper and Caroline Logan of Leeds; sister-in-law, Sue Robbins (Ray) of Talladega; brother-in-law, Dan Limbaugh (Pat) of Childersburg; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was a 1959 graduate of Childersburg High School where he was a standout on the football team and a member of the 1956 State Championship Football Team. He was a five-year varsity player, three time all-county, three time all-state, was named Captain of the 1958 team, and was selected to play in the 1958 University of Alabama All-Star Football Game. Upon graduation, Bill signed a football scholarship to the University of Alabama to play for legendary coach Paul “Bear” Bryant. After his time at Alabama, he returned to Childersburg where he worked as a Superintendent of the Finishing and Shipping department at Kimberly Clark and was a volunteer football coach at Childersburg High School for 42 years. In 1993, the field house at John Cox Stadium in Childersburg was named after him. In 2019 Childersburg Football permanently retired his jersey (#75). Bill was very active at Childersburg First Methodist Church where he served for many years as a Sunday School Teacher and in many other capacities. He loved Jesus, Chick, his family, the Childersburg Tigers, the Crimson Tide and watching his grandchildren participate in many sports and activities. Through the years, he impacted many young men as both a coach and role model. He also enjoyed impacting lives by sharing his passion for Jesus Christ.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Peyton Logan, Hunter McCain, Will Hayes, Kallen McCain, Ryan Logan and Austin Ford
Honorary pallbearers will be: Ed Vernon, Jim Kallenbach, Larry Parsons, Bobby Overton, and Tom Jeff Duvall
