LCpl Chase Smith, USMC, age 24 of Childersburg, passed away Friday, September 7, 2018 at UAB Hospital. Services will be held Monday, September 10, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Grace Baptist Church with Brother Frank Thompson and Reverend Ronnie Forbus officiating. Entombment will be at Evergreen Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 12-2 PM prior to the service at Grace Baptist Church.
Chase is survived by his parents, Dandy (Sue) Smith and Toni Viator (Marty); Brothers, Jared Viator and Jake Viator; Uncle/Brother, Bubba Haynes (Erin); Aunt/Sister, Jamie McDaniel (Chris); Aunt and Uncles, Bubba Shun Reynolds (Jay), Les Smith (Dusti); Grandparents, B.R. and Sherry Smith; Great Grandparents, Charles and Sue Reynolds; Girlfriend, Jenna Whitman and daughter Whitlee; A host of Great Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Pallbearers will be members of the United States Marines.
Honorary Pallbearers will be former teammates and coaches, Marine brothers and Masonic brothers.
Chase was preceded in death by Great Great Grandmother, Onnie McDonald; Great Grandparents, Bertha and Leslie Smith; Great Grandmother, Cynthia Hamilton; Grandfather, Mike Haynes; Great Grandmother, Edna Gilliland.
Chase always had dreams of playing college baseball and becoming a Marine. Chase accomplished both task. Chase loved his family, friends, country and above all God.
