Funeral service for Andrew Wallace Shoemaker, age 85, of Childersburg will be Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 11AM at the First United Methodist Church in Childersburg with the Rev. John Limbaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, March 24, 2017 from 5:30-8Pm at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel. Mr. Shoemaker was preceded in death by his wife: Cynthia Price Shoemaker, father: Andrew Jackson Shoemaker, mother: Thelma Gardner Shoemaker, brother: Alvin Shoemaker and sisters: Joyce Williams, Doris Fuller and Carolyn Hassell. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and the owner-operator of J&J Drug in Childersburg for over 30 years, served as a Childersburg City Councilman and a State Representative and was inducted into the Childersburg Hall of Fame in 2009. He was a Coosa Valley Medical Center board member for 29 years and was chairman of the board 3 terms spanning 6 years and was a proud graduate of Auburn University pharmacy school and supporter of the Greater Auburn Fund. Survivors are his children: Andy Shoemaker, Terri Shoemaker, Sharon Shoemaker Sizemore and her husband Richard and Michael Shoemaker and his wife Rachel, grandchildren: Caleb, Amellia and Toby Sizemore and Davis and Marleigh Shoemaker, sisters: Audrey Pate, Linda Smith, brothers: Ronald Shoemaker, Johnny Shoemaker and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Royce Warren, Terry “Tut” Wyatt, Frankie “Harve” Harkins, Tony Blankenship, Alan Pate and William Fuller. Honorary pallbearers are Judge Jerry Fielding, Glen Sisk, Ron Johnson, John Floyd, Ricky Stevens and Keith Hobbs. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church in Childersburg.
