Devoted and loving husband of Robbie Mark Gold, dear brother-in-law of Jeffrey Gold, and faithful companion of Charlotte the Maltese.
Fond brother of Roger (Karyn), Michael, and Jeffrey Hedgpeth; uncle of Katlyn, Roger II, Brady, Zachary (Kristen), Jacob, and Henry Hedgpeth; and great-uncle of Addison and Kinsley Hedgpeth.
Bob is also survived by his first cousins Carol and David (Susan) Iskowich and Anne (Carl) Ziech; second cousins Sophia and Annaliese Iskowich and Charles and Isabel Ziec; his close friend and caretaker Josh Salonga; and dear friends Sheila Hart and Kora Azar.
Preceded in death by parents John Sherbo and Ethel Sherbo Hemminger, and birthmother Ann Wanninger.
Born in Chicago, Illinois with a congenital heart condition to a young single mother from Des Moines, Iowa, Bob was adopted by an adoring couple (also from Des Moines), who nursed their infant son through multiple groundbreaking heart procedures.
Bob lived a productive and successful life. He worked as a meeting planner at the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education before serving as Assistant to the President of Travel Center Tours.
He was a well-read and brilliant man, who knew a lot about everything. He was also an accomplished chef who hosted great parties.
Robbie and Bob shared nearly 40 years together, but officially married May 1, 2018. It was the party to end all parties. The couple traveled often and widely. Their favorite place was Monte Carlo, Monaco, French Riviera, which they visited over 30 times.
With Robbie’s help, Bob found his “lost family”, who resided largely in Florida. Bob was very happy and excited to meet his birthmother and her extended family.
Our hearts are broken to lose Our Bob, but we are most grateful to God for allowing us to know and love him for nearly 40 years.
Friends and family will gather for a visitation for Bob on Friday April 14th, 2023, from 10:00 am - 12:00 noon at Drake & Son Funeral Home, followed by a prayer service at Rosehill Cemetery’s Hennig Mausoleum Chapel.
