Patricia “PK” Keenan, CRNA of Cincinnati and Chicago, passed away on January 8, 2021. Born May 16, 1945, Pat grew up and attended school in Cincinnati, Ohio, graduating from the Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in 1965. She moved to Chicago where she began her career as a Registered Nurse. She went on to complete her BN from St Xavier in 1988 and was awarded her Masters in Anesthesiology from Rush University College of Nursing in 1990.
Pat was a dedicated advocate for every patient, always putting their needs first, explaining often difficult issues with a gentleness and kindness that the families understood and appreciated.
While working at UC in the 1980’s, her teaching skills and in-depth knowledge challenged the students as they learned the intricacies of the Intensive Care Unit. Her attention to procedure and detail gave them a greater appreciation of the always changing possibilities in healing the human body.
Pat’s gifts included a passion for teaching, care for her patients and a heart for all animals, supporting many Animal Rescue agencies. She was also involved in the local political scene and a strong advocate for fair elections.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Yvonne Keenan, her partner Arlene Halko and brother Richard Keenan (Shirley). She is survived by her loving sister Eileen Herzog (Jim), nieces and nephews Gregory Herzog, Leslie Peragine (Bill), Michael Keenan (Jill) and Kathleen Keenan, as well as her great nieces and nephews, Yarrow Keenan; Gavin, Ryan and Morgan Keenan; Ashleigh & Elizabeth Peragine.
