Danny was born on April 4, 1978 in Chicago, Illinois, the first child and only son of his loving parents Natividad D. Barrera and the late, Katherine. Loving brother to Maureen (Juan) Castillo, Christina (Junior) Garcia, and Jennifer (Daniel) Tamayo. Beloved uncle to Emelia, Anthony, Adrian, Andrea, Noemi, Lorenzo, and Jacob. He was nephew, cousin, and friend to many.
Growing up, Danny loved playing video games and watching wrestling, which he later shared that interest with his son. He was quick to crack a joke, especially around the dinner table, often causing someone to choke or spit out their food. He was a foodie and loved to try new things, whether it be different restaurants or new recipes to try at home. He had a generous heart, often buying gifts for people simply because he thought they would like it. He loved music and sports, of which he attended many games with family and friends. He also loved being an uncle. He loved his “kiddos” and took the time to check up on them. He enjoyed listening to their stories and tried to give them life advice. But most of all, he loved being a father. Anyone that knew him, knew the love he had for his son.
Danny fought a long battle with renal disease, but he put up one hell of a fight with family and friends by his side. With multiple complications throughout the years and the odds against him, he always got back up and went out like a champ. His son Aiden was his world and his motivation to never give up. While he is greatly missed, we find comfort in knowing that he can finally rest and be without pain.
