Nancy Kay Brock, December 3, 1935 – July 9, 2020, is now present with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whom she served her whole life. Born in Chicago to Herman and Alice Anderson Brock, Nancy remained in the city for the rest of her days. In 1953, she graduated from Schurz High School as valedictorian in a class of 750 students, and in 1957, graduated with Highest Honors from Wheaton College.
For nearly 50 years, Nancy was a teacher in public and private schools, her classes ranging from Kindergarten to high school. During the last of her teaching years, she had a kindergarten class. Nancy was an excellent teacher and by the end of each year, her kindergarteners could, among other things, read fluently and quote a Scripture verse for each letter of the alphabet. She was highly esteemed by parents and loved by her students
Music and art played an important part in Nancy’s life having been a student at Art Institute and also playing the piano and organ, as well as leading the choir at her church. Also, she loved animals, especially her cats.
For many years, Nancy’s mom lived with her having moved from Florida. Nancy cared for her until she went to be with Christ when she was 100 years old!
Survivors include her sister, Sharon (Brock) Heldman of Belvidere and sister-in-law, Kathlyn (Rorheim) Brock of Cedarville OH; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Dennis Lee Brock and her father, Herman Brock, and mother, Alice Virginia Brock.
Nancy lived for others. She will be missed and remembered dearly by her family and many friends who were part of her life through the years.
