Michael John Komanecki was born and raised in Humboldt Park on November 2, 1961, to Walter and Nettie Mae Komanecki. Michael "Mr. Mike" had many hobbies and passions.
One of which started at an early age with his love for all things hockey. He loved to turn his backyard every winter into an ice rink that everyone in the neighborhood could not wait to also enjoy.
His dream was to be the starting goaltender for the Chicago Blackhawks. He would pour everything he had into his passions throughout his life, others of which were painting and music. This love for music led him along a journey during his adolescence with close friends that shared the same dreams of making it to the big stage with his band "Mud on Pigs". All of these inspirations would continue to shine throughout his life in his extraordinary paintings that will forever be admired by his family and friends.
On Monday, March 18, 2019, Michael John Komanecki, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 57.Michael was preceded in death by this father Walter, mother Nettie Mae, and first wife Mary. He is survived by Wife Brenda Barrios-Komanecki and their loving daughter Alexis “Lexie”. Michael was loved by many friends, close family, nieces, and nephews.
We take solace in knowing that Michael is now with his mom, dad, his first wife Mary, his dog Rafer, and cats Iggy and Rico, undoubtedly wearing a Hawaiian shirt, a panama hat, and a scarf, which if he had it his way, would be the only way to dress.
Please join us in remembering Michael.
