In loving memory of Mason Scholl, born in Polo, IL on June 29, 1929. He died on December 12, 2020, at home, surrounded by his family. He grew up on his parents’ dairy farm in Polo, IL and received his BA from Cornell College, Mount Vernon, IA, Master of Divinity from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary, and MA from Northwestern University. An ordained United Methodist minister with the Northern Illinois Conference, he spent most of his career with sosocial service agencies serving youth, including Childserv, Rosecrance, and Taylor Children's Home. He was a past president and honorary lifetime board member of United Voices for Children, a coalition of congregations and agencies in the Northern Illinois Conference of The United Methodist Church that speaks and acts on behalf of children, youth and families in need. His hobbies included listening to music, walking, gardening, and attending the many activities of his grandchildren.
He is survived by his three children and their spouses: Paula Scholl and Byron Roche, Eric Scholl and Cynthia Moran, and Margo Scholl and Robert Ballmer; and six grandchildren: Alexander Ballmer, Benjamin Ballmer, Nathaniel Scholl, Rosalyn Scholl, Allison Roche, and Caroline Roche. He was beloved by his family and will be very much missed.
Due to Covid restrictions, a service celebrating his life will be limited to immediate family.
