Born in Naguabo, Puerto Rico, Maria came to Chicago when she was 17 years old with a six-month old baby. She raised her family in Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood. When her eight children were older, Maria worked to support her children. Was a very independent and strong-willed woman, but also loving and caring.
Beloved daughter of Dominga Torres; devoted mother of Maria A. (Jesus) Mendez, Inez “Nancy” (Tommy Colon) Medina, Julio (partner Jeannie Mendez) Santiago, Gladys (Lazaro) Santiago de la Hoz, Cynthia “Jeannette” Santiago, Wilson (Duvina) Santiago, and Migdalia (Adrian) Martinez.
Very proud grandmother (“Mima” or “Mom”) of twenty, great-grandmother of fifteen. Dear sister of Ana Delia, Zoraida, Faustino “Junior”, Pedro, and Manual Molina.
Preceded in death by her son Angel Santiago, husband Antero Santiago, father Faustino Molina, and siblings Antonio, Israel, and Maria Aida Molina.
Visitation Thursday, May 12, 4-8pm at Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home, 6901 W. Belmont, Chicago, 60634. After Friday morning prayers, family will follow in procession to Irving Park Cemetery for an 11am graveside service.
