Margaret “Peggy” Parker, nee O’Grady, 100, passed away at home February 28, 2010. Margaret was born May 30, 1909 in Green Bay, WI to the late John P. and Mary L. O’Grady, nee Hogan. She was always proud of her Irish heritage. After high school, Margaret moved to Chicago, IL to attend nursing school, and Chicago became her home ever since. She was a proud graduate of Michael Reese School of Nursing, and continued her professional life, working as the Operating Room Supervisor at both Michael Reese Hospital and Billings/University of Chicago Hospital. At Michael Reese, Margaret met and married the love of her life, Dr. Morris L. Parker, who was the Chief Surgeon at Michael Reese Hospital. He preceded her in death in 1975. Also preceding her in death were her sister and brother in law, Betty and Don Bero. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Hodek, Green Bay, WI and a sister in law, Joan (Dr. Sam) Parker. Margaret is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, and a very caring and dedicated friend, Barbara Runberg. Although she had no children of her own, she was a second mother to her nieces and nephews, and they all loved her dearly. Margaret was thoughtful, generous and caring to family, friends and any person she came in contact with throughout her life. She was beloved by all. The family is also especially grateful to the special and attentive care given Margaret by Angie Amling and Florida Nazarath. A visitation will be held Thursday, March 4th, 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Old St. Mary’s Church, 1500 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago. Entombment Rosehill Cemetery.
