Lolita Elizabeth (Lee) Tuohy, age 92, of Chicago and longtime resident of the Edgewater neighborhood, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2021. Born in Chicago on Feb. 28, 1929 to Judge John M. Tuohy and Lolita Klaus, she is survived by her sister, Julia Tuohy Dolphin Glab; 20 beloved nieces and nephews; 27 great nieces and nephews; 9 great-great nieces and nephews; and many Tuohy cousins and dear friends scattered around the globe. She was predeceased by her much-loved brothers William K., John M., Daniel C., and James S. Tuohy, dear step-brother William Littlejohn; and her adored dog Shaneen. Tuohy settled on a career in education following stints as a telephone operator and flight attendant. She served as an elementary school teacher at U.S. naval bases in Japan, the Azores, Germany, Morocco, and Spain. Steadfastly loyal to family, friends, and country, she leaves a legacy of global adventure, exotic gift-giving, and an independent spirit to all who knew her.
