Leticia “Letty” Manoos Larracas, 81, was born Dec 25, 1937 in Mogpog Marinduque, Philippines. Her parents were Pedro Manoos and Petra Marciano. She died on Aug 27, 2019 at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago. Her siblings were Pedro Jr(d.), Alexander(d.), Reynaldo, Oscar, William(d.), Norma, Ramon(d.), Danilo and Hector. Her children were Arthur (Manila) and wife Elsa, Mary Aileen (Tarlac) and Husband Jaime, Jose Nathaniel (Chicago) wife Maria Teresa, Annaliza (Chicago), Laurence (Chicago) wife Jocelyn, and Michael (Morton Grove) and wife Melanie. Her granddaughters and grandsons were Gian Carlo, Jason Cedric, Stephanie, Terrence, Kimberly, Katrina, Kyle Russel, Kenneth Jim, James Angelo, Fatima Gail, Faith Angela, Eollan Ray 19, Andrew Carl 17, Maika Antonette 20, Michael 18. Great granddaughter/sons are: Guia Frances Madison 4, Gillian Caitriona, 6 mos, Empress Rylai 5, Georgiana Esabelle3, and Kai Genesis, 1.
She grew up in Mogpog, Marinduque where she experienced the beginning of world war 2 when the Japanese invaded the islands. She recalled hiding in caves with her family and stays there while the Japanese soldiers were around town. Her father, Pedro only ventures out once in a while to look for food for the family. After the war the family moved to Manila so seek for greener pasture. She studied at Philippine Normal College in Manila with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education around 1957 and returned to Marinduque and worked for Mogpog municipality in 1957 as a teacher, Letty taught at the Argao Elementary and High School in Mogpog, Marinduque where she met her husband Egipsico. He courted her and fell in love with each other and on Jan 28, 1961, they were finally married. She continued teaching, until 1969 where she moved between Manila and Mogpog while raising her children. Around 1970 the family moved to Marikina and settled there where she performed her responsibilities as a housewife raising 6 children until 1990.
Sher moved to the US in 1990 with her Egipsico with 2 children Laurence and Michael and settled in Chicago. In 1994, 2 more of her children, Jose and Annaliza, joined Letty and Egipsico.
She of and became a US citizen in August 1999. An active member Marinduque Association of Chicago, USA or MACUSA a social group of Marinduque natives living in Chicago. Belongs to St Gregory the Great parish church.
