Joe and I were considered best friends in high school.  He and I were both dishwashers at the hospital.  We ended up as roommates our senior year at Shippensburg.  He was a quality human being, and our world is not as good without him.

Joe was a great senior colleague when I was just starting - his friendly companionship in the Faculty Lounge meant a lot.  Rest in peace, Joe. 

Joe has served as an Adjunct Instructor at Quinlan School of Business, Loyola University Chicago for several years during his retirement. Students enjoyed his classes and expressed much appreciation for his profound wisdom and interest to share his knowledge and love for economics. We are thankful for his teaching and celebrate with his family his valuable contributions to academia, family and society.  We will all miss him.

Frannie and I were saddened by the loss of your beloved Joe. He was a very good man and a very good friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all of his family.

Joe and I were college friends, housemates our senior year along with our friend, Tom.  We shared many fun times during our four years at SSC.  In addition to our friendship, we introduced our girlfriends, Carolyn and Beverly, to each other through many outings together.  Our foursome friendship  continued to grow after graduation: Joe and Carolyn’s wedding,, June, 1969.  What a blast.  Our many trips to visit Joe and Carolyn at their Pittsburgh apartment,  our infamous road trip to the Great Lakes to visit Joe and Carolyn in their Navy quarters, and our visit to Elmhurst  to celebrate Joe’s graduation from grad school and his Ph.D. What beautiful memories..  Beverly and I are
very grateful.
Joe was not only a close friend, but he was a good person, father, husband, grandfather, brother, and uncle.  He was the most focused person I knew.  He knew what he wanted and he went for it.  Motivated, committed, inspired,dedicated,and loyal are adjectives describing  Joe.  I will miss you,my friend.  We occasionally called each other, 
texted more frequently, although not as much as 
we should have.  He was a good friend and I shall  miss him and our conversations.
Rest in peace, my friend.  Thank you for everything.

Joe and I were great friends in high school.  Both of us were dishwashers at the hospital.  We both attended Shippensburg State College, and were roommates our senior year.  He was among the brightest people and I knew he would do well in the future, as he did.

My condolences to all of Joe’s loved ones.
I remember him from high school and admired him and his achievements. But mostly I remember how kind he was and how he could be counted on when a job needed to be done. I am sorry our paths never crossed again, but from comments on this site I have the feeling that everyone who knew him recognized his kindness and dependability.

RIP Joe Heiney

Joe was one of the dearest people I have ever met. He was always so kind to and generous with others. He will be sorely missed. 

Joe and I ran the Shamrock Shuffle every year, the last time in 2022. We Biked-the-Drive most years. Joe and Khadda took Rick and I to our first performance at the Civic Opera House. Joe attended many parties at the house and never showed up empty handed. I still have the Uncle Sam he brought to the 4th of July BBQ, the hand painted Eater Eggs he brought for Easter and the Christmas ornaments he brought to the tree trimming parties. He will be dearly missed. 

Joe was a great Chair of the Department of Business at Elmhurst College because he genuinely cared about people. He made a difference.
